Draining the oil

  • Always wear protective gloves and eyewear when working with motor oil. Be careful if your bike has been running recently as the engine and exhaust may be very hot. Keep rags or towels nearby to wipe up any spills.

  • Use a 14 mm box end wrench or socket to turn the oil drain plug counter-clockwise until you can turn it by hand.

  • Finish removing the oil drain plug by hand and allow the oil to drain.

  • Watch the draining oil for shiny specks. These specks may be metal flakes which could indicate a serious problem with your engine.

Laat de olie uit je motor lopen

Draag altijd handschoenen en een bril wanneer je met motorolie werkt. Ga extra voorzichtig te werk als je de motor net uit hebt gezet, aangezien de motor en uitlaat nog steeds heet kunnen zijn. Hou een handdoek bij de hand voor als je toch wat olie morst.

Gebruik een 14 mm-moersleutel om de aftapplug los te draaien. Draai je sleutel tegen de klok in tot je de plug met je hand verder los kunt draaien.

Verwijder de plug met je hand en neem de tijd om de olie uit je motor te laten lopen.

Controleer de olie op glimmende deeltjes. Als er metalen deeltjes in de olie zitten, kan dit duiden op serieuze schade aan je motor.
