  • Always wear protective gloves and eyewear when working with motor oil. Be careful if your car has been running recently as the engine and exhaust may be very hot. Keep rags or towels nearby to wipe up any spills.

  • Use a 19 mm box end wrench to turn the oil drain plug counter-clockwise until you can turn it by hand.

  • A socket wrench is not advisable due to space constraints.

  • Finish removing the oil drain plug with your hand. Oil will begin streaming out of the oil pan when you finish removing the plug

  • Watch the draining oil for shiny specks. The shiny specks could be metal flakes and may indicate a serious problem with your engine.

Utiliza siempre guantes y gafas protectoras cuando trabajes con aceite de motor. Ten cuidado si tu automóvil ha estado funcionando recientemente, ya que el motor y el escape pueden estar muy calientes. Mantén trapos o toallas cerca para limpiar cualquier derrame.

Utiliza una llave de boca de 19 mm para girar el tapón de drenaje de aceite en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj hasta que pueda girarlo con la mano.

No se recomienda una llave de tubo debido a limitaciones de espacio.

Termina de quitar el tapón de drenaje de aceite con la mano. El aceite comenzará a salir del cárter cuando termines de quitar el tapón.

Observa el aceite que drena para detectar manchas brillantes. Las motas brillantes podrían ser escamas de metal y podrían indicar un problema grave con el motor.
