  • Use a rag or towel to wipe off the area around the oil drain plug.

  • Replace the oil drain plug by first hand-tightening it.

  • Finish tightening the oil drain plug using a socket wrench.

  • Only tighten the oil drain plug until it is snug. Over-tightening the oil drain plug can strip the threads or even crack the oil pan—a very costly error. You can always tighten it more later.

  • Wipe off the area around the oil drain plug one more time with a rag or towel.

Utilisez un chiffon ou de l'essuie-tout pour essuyer la zone autour du bouchon de vidange.

Remettez le bouchon en commençant par le serrer à la main.

Terminez de le serrer en utilisant une clé à douilles.

Serrez le bouchon de vidange sans excès. Si vous le serrez trop fort, vous risquez d'abîmer le filetage ou même de casser le carter d'huile, un erreur très coûteuse. Vous pourrez toujours le serrer un peu plus plus tard si besoin.

Essuyez encore une fois la zone autour du bouchon avec un chiffon ou de l'essuie-tout.
