Jacking up the car

  • Raise the corner of the car enough so that you can comfortably work underneath it.

  • Place a jack stand underneath the frame next to the jack.

  • Raise the jack to the highest notch you can before it reaches the car.

  • Lower the jack so that the car is resting on the jack stand.

  • Many hydraulic jacks are lowered by placing the open end of the handle over a knob and turning it counterclockwise. Consult the owner's manual for your jack if you don't know how to lower it.

  • Never work underneath a car that is only supported by a jack. The jack may slip or fail, resulting in serious injury or death.

Lever la voiture

Soulevez la voiture assez haut pour que vous puissiez travailler confortablement dessous.

Placez une chandelle à côté du cric.

Réglez la chandelle aussi proche que possible du niveau du cric.

Baissez le cric pour que la voiture repose sur la chandelle.

Beaucoup de crics hydrauliques se baissent en tournant une valve dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre. Consultez le manuel de votre cric si vous ne savez pas comment le baisser.

Ne travaillez jamais sous une voiture supportée uniquement par un cric. Celui-ci pourrait glisser ou se casser, ce qui pourrait vous blesser gravement ou même vous tuer.
