Recovery is your friend

  • From your bootloader screen, toggling the volume buttons will offer functions like Start, Power Down, Restart Bootloader, and usually … Recovery. Pressing the Power button generally executes the displayed function.

  • The recovery partition is a rudimentary mini operating mode which allows loading updates, wiping the cache partition, and performing a factory reset to a phone that cannot boot properly (e.g. in an endless bootloop, never reaching an unlock screen). It's not called recovery for no reason -- it's an essential tool for restoring a broken phone.

  • Some phones are supported by third party recovery images, like ClockworkMod, with advance features including selective backup and restore, mounting partitions usually only accessible after the Android OS is running, and installing a root service.

  • Similar to Unix' superuser command, root allows the user to perform system-level actions. Rooting is a powerful tool that enables some features and access to the operating system while it is running.

  • Rooting suppresses built-in security protections of the operating system, and should only be done if you have full understanding of the risks. You should never grant an installed application root access, or permission to install a root service, without knowing exactly what it needs it for. 99.9% of apps will never need root access.

Desde la pantalla del gestor de arranque, alternar los botones de volumen ofrecerá funciones como Inicio, Apagado, Reiniciar el gestor de arranque y, por lo general,... Recuperación. Presionar el botón de encendido generalmente ejecuta la función mostrada.

La partición de recuperación es un minimodo operativo rudimentario que permite cargar actualizaciones, borrar la partición del caché y realizar un restablecimiento de fábrica en un teléfono que no puede iniciarse correctamente (por ejemplo, en un ciclo de inicio sin fin, sin llegar nunca a una pantalla de desbloqueo).

No se llama recuperación sin razón: es una herramienta esencial para restaurar un teléfono roto.

Algunos teléfonos son compatibles con imágenes de recuperación de terceros, como ClockworkMod, con funciones avanzadas que incluyen copia de seguridad y restauración selectivas, montaje de particiones a las que generalmente solo se puede acceder después de que se ejecuta el sistema operativo Android e instalación de un servicio raíz.

Similar al comando de superusuario de Unix, raiz le permite al usuario realizar acciones a nivel del sistema. El enraizamiento es una herramienta poderosa que habilita algunas funciones y el acceso al sistema operativo mientras se está ejecutando.

El enraizamiento suprime las protecciones de seguridad integradas del sistema operativo, y solo debe realizarse si comprendes completamente los riesgos. Nunca debes otorgar acceso de root a una aplicación instalada, o permiso para instalar un servicio de root, sin saber exactamente para qué lo necesitas.

El 99,9% de las aplicaciones nunca necesitarán acceso de root.
