Open the mouse

Use a Phillips #1 screw driver to open the back cover.
Gently push away the bottom part on the opposite side to the cable.
As in the "push away" step, there should be about 30° between the bottom and top part. Push on the bottom part up, so the fit is tight around the cable. Slowly move parts together to reduce the angle.
