  • The lack of visible screws had us a little worried, but not for long thanks to these handily-labeled clips.

  • Removing the display assembly is simply a matter of flipping the switches and sliding the panel out.

  • For those keeping score thus far, removing the front panel keeps us at a grand total of zero tools required.

  • On the midframe we find an array of pogo pins, their counter parts are on the back of the display assembly.

  • Immediately below the contact pads on the display assembly we take off the metal shield and see where the display connects to the breakout board.

Het gebrek aan zichtbare schroeven verontrustte ons enigszins. Gelukkig duurde dat niet lang, aangezien we deze handig gelabelde klemmen vonden.

Het verwijderen van de schermmodule is niets meer dan een kwestie van het omzetten van de schakelaars en het eruit schuiven van het paneel.

Voor diegenen die de score graag bijhouden: het verwijderen van het voorste paneel brengt ons op het totaal van precies nul gebruikte tools.

Op het midframe vinden we een verzameling aan pogo-pinnen, terwijl hun tegenhangers op de achterkant van de schermmodule te vinden zijn.

We halen het metalen schildje, direct onder de contactkussens van de schermmodule, weg en zien vervolgens precies waar het scherm met het breakout board verbonden zit.

Fairphone heeft ervoor gekozen om off-the-shelf onderdelen te gebruiken voor hun modulaire concept om met behulp van breakout boards zoals deze de compatibiliteit te behouden.
