  • In what seems like a(nother) major step backward, the S6 Edge dumps the lightning-fast Micro-B USB 3.0 port found on the Galaxy S5 in favor of a garden-variety microUSB (2.0) port.

  • Since Micro-B USB 3.0 ports are backward-compatible with standard USB 1.x/2.0 micro-B cable plugs, we fail to see the point. Apart from a slight space savings, there appears to be no benefit—certainly nothing to justify the ~90% drop in data transfer rates.

  • Welcome to the year 2000.

In quello che che appare come un (altro) grande passo indietro, l'S6 Edge rinuncia alla velocissima porta USB 3.0 Micro-B in favore di una dozzinale microUSB (2.0).

Dato che le porte USB 3.0 Micro-B sono compatibili retroattivamente con i cavi standard USB 1.x/2.0 micro-B, non capiamo il motivo. A parte un ingombro lievemente minore, non ci sembra che sia alcun beneficio: certamente non c'è niente che possa giustificare quel 90% in meno nella velocità di trasmissione dati.
