  • In what seems like a(nother) major step backward, the S6 Edge dumps the lightning-fast Micro-B USB 3.0 port found on the Galaxy S5 in favor of a garden-variety microUSB (2.0) port.

  • Since Micro-B USB 3.0 ports are backward-compatible with standard USB 1.x/2.0 micro-B cable plugs, we fail to see the point. Apart from a slight space savings, there appears to be no benefit—certainly nothing to justify the ~90% drop in data transfer rates.

  • Welcome to the year 2000.

In einem (weiteren) offensichtlichen Rückschritt, ist beim S6 Edge der blitzschnelle Micro-B USB 3.0 Port des Galaxy S5 zugunsten eines ganz banalen microUSB (2.0) Ports ausgetauscht worden.

Da Micro-B USB 3.0 Ports rückwärts kompatibel mit den standard USB 1.x/2.0 micro-B Kabelsteckern sind, erscheint uns dieses Vorgehen sinnlos. Außer einer sehr geringen Platzersparnis, scheint es keinen Vorteil zu geben, vor allem nichts was einen ~90% Rückgang der Datenübertragungsraten rechtfertigt.
