Removing the remains of the interface terminal rubber caps

Remove the battery from the camera before beginning.
If you want to remove the remains of the rubber straps that once held the I/F terminal caps, do it before disassembly. They will disappear into the depths of the camera body once you remove the left cover.
To remove the remains of a rubber strap, pull it out as far as possible using tweezers, a needle or a small flat-tip srew driver. Then grab it from the side with small needle nose pliers. Twist the pliers to wrap the end of the strap around the pliers and pull it out.
Working this way instead of just pulling straight out allows you to apply more force while reducing the risk of tearing off the rubber.
