Always be careful with knives. Never point them at yourself while cutting and always fold them when finished.
Comparing the length of your new plug, take your cutting knife, and mark a line where the end of the plug lines up with the wire.
The recommended length to cut in order to properly strip the wire is about an inch and a half, and can be measured using the plug.
