When handling the flash there is a risk of electrocution. The black skinny cylinder attached to the top frame of the camera is the charged flash battery. Consider using rubber gloves to prevent minor injury.
Using caution and a slightly firm hand, separate the camera into three parts: main body with lens, circuit board with screen, and the flash piece (pictured second).
The main ribbon attached to the lens may come undone during the separation process. If it doesn't you must unplug it beforehand, otherwise parts will stay connected.
