  • Open the jaws of the vice so the metal shell of the magsafe just fits between them. Place the magsafe between the jaws with the cable upwards and the white plastic housing resting on the jaws.

  • Cut off the cable as close to the housing as possible.

  • Use a cross-head screwdriver to force the metal section of the magsafe out of the plastic housing

  • Gently prise apart the strain relief metal band around the remains of the cable and put it aside for later.

  • Cut down one side of the soft plastic inner and peel it away from the wires and circuit board. You are very unlikely to be able to re-use it so don't worry if it tears.

  • The image shows roughly what you should now have. The braid is soldered to two places (one on each site of the circuit board at opposite ends - middle and right in the picture); the white core is soldered in just one (left in the picture).

Réglez l'étau de manière à ce que la coque métallique du MagSafe s'insère entre les deux mâchoires. Placez le MagSafe entre les mâchoires, le câble vers le haut et le boîtier en plastique blanc reposant au-dessus des mâchoires.

Coupez le câble le plus près possible du boîtier.

Utilisez un tournevis cruciforme pour forcer la partie métallique du MagSafe à sortir du boîtier en plastique.

Détachez délicatement la bande métallique de protection contre la traction, autour des restes du câble et mettez-la de côté pour plus tard.

Coupez un côté de la gaine interne en plastique souple et détachez-la des fils et du circuit imprimé. Il est très peu probable que vous puissiez la réutiliser, ne vous inquiétez donc pas si elle se déchire.

L'image montre à peu près ce que vous devriez avoir à présent. La tresse est soudée à deux endroits (un de chaque côté du circuit imprimé, aux extrémités opposées : au milieu et à droite sur l'image) ; l'âme blanche est soudée à un seul endroit (à gauche sur l'image).
