Iron the taped seam

  • We will now use the head from the iron to melt the hot-melt tape in between the broken seam layers, to bond them together again.

  • Carefully check the tape is underneath the old taped seam and not protruding out from the edges. Position the heated iron on top of this area, and apply light pressure, for up to 10 seconds.

  • Let the area cool down, and then check whether the hot-melt tape has melted and bonded the defect successfully. If it has not, apply the iron again, and increase the pressure a little. Continue this process until it is fully glued down.

  • Tip: you may find in this process, that some extra hot-melt tape is needed in some areas. simply cut some more small pieces and slide them between the seam, and repeat the steps above.

Strijk de naad met gelijkmatige druk over de tape

We gebruiken nu de hitte van het strijkijzer om de smeltlijmtape tussen de gebroken naadlagen te smelten en ze weer aan elkaar te binden.

Controleer zorgvuldig of de tape onder de oude getapete naad ligt en niet uitsteekt langs de randen. Plaats het verwarmde strijkijzer op dit gebied en druk lichtjes gedurende maximaal 10 seconden.

Laat het gebied afkoelen en controleer vervolgens of de smeltlijmtape is gesmolten en het defect succesvol heeft verbonden. Als dit niet het geval is, plaats het strijkijzer opnieuw en verhoog de druk een beetje. Herhaal dit proces totdat alles volledig is vastgelijmd.

Tip: Het kan zijn dat je tijdens dit proces merkt dat er op sommige plekken extra smeltlijmtape nodig is. Knip eenvoudig wat extra kleine stukjes tape, schuif ze tussen de naad, en herhaal de bovenstaande stappen.
