Remove the zipper "top stop"

  • To perform this repair, we will first remove the "top stop" of the zipper. This is piece of plastic at the top of the zipper, which is slightly larger than the other zipper teeth.

  • Important: This procedure will permanently remove this part of the zipper and we will replace it with a thick knot instead. Do not perform this repair if you do not wish to cause this type of damage/repair.

  • Use sturdy scissors, or preferably pliers, to remove the top stop. Take care not to damage the surrounding material or zipper teeth; and take care with your fingers!

  • Note: For this guide, we have demonstrated on a plastic top-stop. Some zippers may have a metal top-stop, which can be carefully removed by un-bending, and re-attached at the end.

  • Once the top stop is removed, keep it to one side, for referring to later when making the replacement knot.

Entferne das "Anfangsteil" des Reißverschlusses

Um dein Kleidungsstück zu reparieren, entfernen wir zunächst das "Anfangsteil" des Reißverschlusses. Das ist ein Stück Plastik am oberen Ende des Reißverschlusses, das etwas größer ist als die anderen Reißverschlusszähne.

Wichtig: Bei diesem Schritt wird dieser Teil des Reißverschlusses dauerhaft entfernt und durch einen dicken Knoten ersetzt. Führe diese Reparatur nicht durch. wenn du diese Art von Beschädigung/Reparatur nicht machen möchtest.

Benutze eine stabile Schere oder besser ein Zange, um das Anfangsteil zu entfernen. Pass auf, dass du das Material darum oder die Reißverschlusszähne nicht beschädigst und pass auf deine Finger auf!

Hinweis: In dieser Anleitung haben wir ein Anfangsteil aus Plastik benutzt. Manche Reißverschlüsse haben vielleicht ein Anfangsteil aus Metall. Dieser kann vorsichtig entfernt werden, indem man in aufbiegt und am Ende wieder anbringt.

Wenn du das Anfangsteil entfernt hast, kannst du ihn erstmal beiseite legen, aber du brauchst ihn später noch, wenn du den Ersatzknoten machst.
