Chalices are large, thick, and robust basin glasses, whose shape helps create a thick foam, while also facilitating the intensity of the aromas and the proper oxygenation of a beer.

The shape of the Chalice allows for the foam to last during the drinking. Some Chalices have engraved spots called nucleation points that help create a stream of bubbles to help maintain carbonation levels to enhance the aroma of the beer.
