Using a plastic spudger, a metal flat spudger or flat-head screwdriver, and a coin pick, separate the top shell from the bottom by undoing the many clips around the controller.

Start from the top of the controller by the USB-C port, insert the spudger into a crease between the middle of the top and the bumpers, and carefully pry apart the gap.

Continue from the top, working down the side of the controller along the outside of the handles, to the bottom by the headphone jack.

Repeat this process for the other side of the controller, starting from a gap near the other bumper button, work along the opposite handle and meet at the other side of the headphone jack.
