The power supply

  • The interior of the radio, with the power supply on the left, held in place by four philips screws, and some glue here and there. At this point the data cable to the controls was still connected.

  • The four-wire cable (black-black-red-red) provides both 5V (black-black) and 10-12V to the radio. Other people have found out that the 5V is only needed for the USB power outlet in the back, so that the radio can operate with 12V only, only losing the USB power functionality.

  • For this repair, the power supply has been replaced with one from a broken television that happened to be available, and gives 11.5 V, which proved to be enough. Since this power supply is a bit bigger than the original, it has been mounted to the back of the interior, with sufficient space between power supply and other components.

  • Two wires have been soldered to the power supply, and the red wires of the original cabe have been cut, to connect these to the power supply. Soldering these wires has been done, whilst making sure that 0 and +12V have been connected to the correct wire.

De voeding

De binnenkant van de radio, met de voeding links, vastgehouden door vier kruiskopschroeven en hier en daar wat lijm. Op dit punt was de datakabel naar de bedieningselementen nog aangesloten.

De vier-aderige kabel (zwart-zwart-rood-rood) levert zowel 5V (zwart-zwart) als 10-12V aan de radio. Andere mensen hebben ontdekt dat de 5V alleen nodig is voor de USB-stroomaansluiting aan de achterkant, zodat de radio alleen met 12V kan werken, waarbij alleen de USB-stroomfunctionaliteit verloren gaat.

Voor deze reparatie is de voeding vervangen door een exemplaar van een kapotte televisie die toevallig beschikbaar was en 11,5 V levert, wat voldoende bleek te zijn. Omdat deze voeding iets groter is dan de originele, is deze aan de achterkant van het interieur gemonteerd, met voldoende ruimte tussen de voeding en andere componenten.

Er zijn twee draden aan de voeding gesoldeerd en de rode draden van de originele kabel zijn doorgeknipt om deze aan te sluiten op de voeding. Het solderen van deze draden is gedaan, waarbij er op gelet is dat 0 en +12V op de juiste draad zijn aangesloten.
