Disconnect the CMOS battery

  • The CMOS battery is the flat, round battery with a twisted pair of wires connecting it to the motherboard.

  • Use the point of your spudger to press on alternating sides of the CMOS battery connector to "walk" it out of its socket and disconnect it.
