Le capteur de pression d'air d'admission (Capteur MAP) permet de mesurer la pression de l'air dans l'admission. Celui-ci permet au calculateur, grâce à des formules, d'évaluer la quantité d'air aspiré et d'adapter l'injection de carburant en fonction de cette information.

Une capteur MAP encrassé peut entraîner des accoups désagréables ainsi qu'un ralenti instable.

Si celui-ci devient défaillant ou si il est débranché les symptômes suivants se manifesteront:

* Voyant ESP au tableau de bord avec une clé.
* Régulateur et limiteur de vitesse inopérants.
* Ralenti très élevé, bloqué à ~1150RPM même à chaud.
* Ouverture complète du papillon en fond de pédale impossible.
* Climatisation inopérante.
* Moteur bridé en puissance.
La défaillance du capteur génère un code d'erreur OBD, susceptible de ne pas être lisible par toutes les applications.

Le code OBD et les voyants disparaissent seuls après que le moteur ait tourné quelques instants après le remplacement/nettoyage. Il peut être nécessaire de bouger le véhicule pour que le voyant s'éteigne de lui même.

Une fois le voyant disparu, le ralenti est censé retomber de lui même à 800RPM comme attendu.

The intake air pressure sensor (MAP Sensor) measures the air pressure in the intake. This allows the engine control unit (ECU), using specific formulas, to calculate the amount of air being drawn in and adjust the fuel injection accordingly.

A dirty MAP sensor can cause unpleasant jerking and an unstable idle.

If the sensor becomes faulty or is disconnected, the following symptoms may occur:

- ESP warning light on the dashboard with a key symbol.
- Cruise control and speed limiter inoperative.
- Very high idle, stuck at ~1150 RPM even when the engine is warm.
- Full throttle opening at the end of the pedal travel is impossible.
- Air conditioning not working.
- Engine power is limited.

A faulty sensor will trigger an OBD error code, which may not be readable by all diagnostic applications.

The OBD code and warning lights will disappear on their own after the engine has run for a short time following the replacement or cleaning of the sensor. It may be necessary to move the vehicle for the warning light to turn off by itself.

Once the warning light disappears, the idle speed should automatically drop back to 800 RPM as expected.

Disconnect the pressure sensor connector.

Gently spray contact cleaner in short bursts into the pressure sensor's orifice.
