Remove keyboard
  • Push in the two latches at the back of the keyboard, then lift the keyboard from the back and gently pull it towards the screen.

  • Be careful when removing the keyboard! The ribbon cable leading to the motherboard is quite short. Nothing in this step should require much force.

  • Release the retaining clip by gently pushing the two tabs away from the connector, then pull the cable out.

  • Those two latches are actually separate parts from the top cover. Isn't that cool?! Kudos to Acer for thoughtfulness and serviceability - designing those into the laptop cost them time and money when they could have just molded damage-prone tabs into the top cover.
