Checking If the Capacitor is Bad

  • Identify which capacitors are bad. There are 2 ways to do this:

  • 1. By Look/Feel: Look for a bulged top on the capacitor. You may also feel that the vent has burst. One way to confirm suspicion of a bulged capacitor is to place a ruler on top of the capacitor with the edge touching the top. If the ruler will not stay flat, the capacitor is bulged.

  • 2. (Preferred) Using an ESR meter: You can also use an ESR meter to check for bad capacitors. Once you get the ESR reading, compare it against a table of readings (usually included with the meter) or the capacitor's datasheet.

Vérifier si le condensateur est défectueux

Identifiez les condensateurs défectueux. Il existe 2 façons de procéder :

1. Par Look/Feel : Recherchez un sommet renflé sur le condensateur. Vous pouvez également sentir que l'évent a éclaté. Une façon de confirmer la suspicion d'un condensateur bombé consiste à placer une règle sur le condensateur avec le bord touchant le haut. Si la règle ne reste pas plate, le condensateur est bombé.

2. (Préféré) Utilisation d'un compteur ESR : Vous pouvez également utiliser un compteur ESR pour vérifier les condensateurs défectueux. Une fois que vous obtenez la lecture ESR, comparez-la à un tableau de lectures (généralement inclus avec le compteur) ou à la fiche technique du condensateur.
