Make sure the Dyson is unplugged and off before continuing. This is indicated if there is no light on by the charging port.
If there is a blue light on the base of the device just below the handle, the device is on. Make sure no light is on.
The light can stay on if you unplug the power adapter from the wall but the plug is still connected to the Dyson.
