  • The LaCie Grand is a big chunk of metal. Be sure to provide yourself a steady working surface and disconnect all peripherals before attempting any repairs.

  • Flip the device on its back to reach a pair of silicon strips. The strips are glued to the chassis and cover four screws which need to be exposed in order to continue disassembly. Applying a small amount of alcohol (96%) will dissolve the glue whilst still retaining most of the adhesive properties.

  • A careful removal with the alcohol will help you to keep most of the glue intact. Remember to keep these areas clean so you can later reuse the glue strips.
