  • We see three camera modules—but only two connectors to unplug? Guess we'll just yank the board out and see wha—oh. There's the third one, hiding underneath.

  • The motherboard itself isn't difficult to remove, but it seems slightly inelegant to require its removal for repairs to the primary camera. On the plus side though, this camera assembly now has our full attention.

  • Since we already saw the 13 MP ƒ/2.4 ultrawide (OmniVision’s CMOS OV13B10) in the Mi 10, the star of this show is the new 5 MP ƒ/2.4 telemacro (Samsung S5K5E9). (The 20 MP ƒ/2.2 selfie cam is a bit ordinary by smartphone standards.)

  • Telemacro offers interesting possibilities—capturing detailed closeups from a greater distance, and without blocking so much incoming light with the phone itself.

  • The Mi 11 is already the fifth Xiaomi phone featuring the 108 MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor—but newly improved AI should translate to better shots compared to the Mi 10.

  • The Mi 11 foregoes the typical telephoto module, so you get no optical zoom here—only a 30x digital one. Sounds like big numbers, but the more you zoom the more image quality will suffer as a result.

Nous apercevons trois modules de caméra – mais seulement deux connecteurs à débrancher ? Parions qu'il n'y a qu'à soulever la carte et voir si… Ah ! Voilà le connecteur numéro trois qui se cachait en dessous.

La carte mère elle-même n'est pas difficile à retirer, mais ce n'est pas vraiment élégant d'exiger son retrait à qui souhaite réparer la caméra principale. Point positif : ce module de caméra a maintenant toute notre attention.

Comme nous avons déjà croisé le module ultra grand-angle 13 MP ƒ/2,4 (CMOS OV13B10 OmniVision) dans le Mi 10, la star du jour est le nouvel objectif télémacro 5 MP ƒ/2,4 (S5K5E9 Samsung). (La caméra selfie 20 MP ƒ/2,2 n'a rien d'exceptionnel dans un smartphone standard.)

L'objectif télémacro offre des possibilités intéressantes : capture de détails à plus grande distance et sans que le téléphone absorbe trop de lumière.

Le Mi 11 est déjà le cinquième téléphone Xiaomi avec un capteur ISOCELL Bright HMX 108 Mp Samsung. Cependant l'IA nouvellement améliorée devrait produire de meilleures images que celles du Mi 10.

Le Mi 11 sacrifie le téléobjectif classique. On ne dispose donc pas de zoom optique, juste d'un zoom numérique 30x. On dirait un gros chiffre, mais plus vous zoomez, plus la qualité de l'image en souffre.
