Take aim!

  • Take a look at your hard disk. From the lid, you should be able to make out the outline of where the disk is.

  • If in doubt, on the botton of the disk you should be able to see the motor, which directly drives the disk spindle.

  • Below the disk is the read/write head actuator spindle.

  • Note a point roughly half to three quarters of the way from the centre of the disk and its circumference. This is where you will be doing the damage!

  • For laptop drives the hammer and nail method (Step 5) is probably quickest. But for the very few having aluminium platters and for desktop drives having a tougher cover the drill method (Step 6) is generally easier.

Dai un'occhiata al tuo hard disk. Sul coperchio dovresti essere capace di vedere dai bordi dove si trova il disco.

Se sei in dubbio, sul bottone del disco dovresti essere capace di vedere il motore, che è direttamente collegato al perno del disco.

Al di sotto del disco c'è il perno dell'attuatore della testina di lettura/scrittura.

Nota che c'è un punto a circa metà o tre quarti dello spazio tra il centro del disco e la sua circonferenza. Qui è dove farai dei danni!

Per i driver dei portatili il metodo del martello e del chiodo (Passo 5) è probabilmente il più breve. Ma per i pochi che hanno delle placche in alluminio e per i driver del desktop che hanno una custodia più dura, il metodo del trapano (Passo 6) è generalmente il più facile.
