  • Cover the cut lines with strips of self-sticking mesh tape, overlapping the ends. Press lightly to help them stick—you might have to do one at a time if gravity starts working against you.

  • If your mesh isn't the self-sticking kind, use the 3" putty knife to fill the gaps with joint compound and then lay tape along the top of each one. Then continue the process as follows.
