At the top of the laptop, there is gap between the back cover and the rest of the laptop.
Gently pop the back off by gripping the top edge where the gap is and pulling up. The rest of the frame should pop up as you pull.
There should be popping sounds as the frame comes up around all the edges.
It will take some force to remove the frame for the first time. Don't be afraid to really pull it up; just be patient and don't rip it up all at once. Each edge should pop up as you pull.
