Remove the plastic locking mechanism

Use a pair of needle nose pliers to depress the two wing clips on the plastic lock.
This can be a difficult area to see and reach. Use a flashlight if need be.
This plastic locking mechanism may break during removal, so be sure to use a new traction cable assembly during reassembly.
Once the wing clips are depressed, pull the plastic lock away from the transmission.
