  • Our friendship test is nearly finished, but let's fish out the final remaining components.

  • First on the hook is a second speaker along the top edge of the phone, doing double duty as both an earpiece speaker and a second loudspeaker for stereo sound in landscape mode.

  • This is not just an acoustical win, but also one for repairability! The structure-borne speaker driver we found in the Mate 30 Pro complicated display replacements. Nice to see that Huawei decided to omit this fancy (annoying) tech in the Mate 40 Pro.

  • The second catch is the tiny linear actuator vibration motor. Since we've still got all these iPhones laying around, here's a comparison:

  • The Mate 40 Pro's motor measures in at a puny 9.28 mm x 9.28 mm x 3.3 mm, making it just about half the size of the already-minuscule Taptic Engine from the iPhone 12 mini.

  • The last components in the net are a proximity sensor, a power and volume button cable, and one last interconnect cable.

Wir haben bald genug Zeit miteinander verbracht, also lass uns die restlichen Sachen rausholen.

Erstmal ein zweiter Lautsprecher am oberen Ende des Telefons, der sowohl als Ohrhörer-Lautsprecher, als auch als zweiter Lautsprecher für Stereo-Sound fungiert.

Das ist nicht nur gut für den Klang, sondern auch für die Reparatur! Der Vibrationslautsprecher im Mate 30 Pro hat Displayreparaturen ziemlich erschwert. Ganz schön, dass Huawei diese tolle (und nervige) Technik im Mate 40 Pro ersetzt hat.

Dann holen wir den Vibrationsmotor raus. Weil wir immer noch all die iPhones rumliegen haben, machen wir doch einen Vergleich:

Der Motor im Mate 40 Pro misst gerademal 9,28 mm x 9,28 mm x 3,3 mm, das ist knapp halb so groß wie die Taptic Engine im iPhone 12 mini.

Zuletzt gibts noch einen Näherungssensor, Kabel für Power Button und Lautstärketasten und ein letztes Verbindungskabel.
