  • Underneath metal shield number two: a massive heatsink and funky-looking power supply.

  • Since heat rises naturally, it makes sense that this heatsink is designed to move heat upward through all those heat pipes we saw earlier in the X-ray. All the while, the heat radiating through the silver fin stacks is blown away by the fan.

  • Compared to the Xbox Series X's heatsink, the PS5's definitely has some more surface area to spread that hot hot heat. The PS5 doesn’t use a vapor chamber like the Series X, but Sony claims their combination of copper heat pipes and heatsinks is just as effective.

  • Hanging out below the giant heatsink is the PS5's boot-shaped 350-watt enclosed power supply—which is more than enough for the tested 200W draw at full load, and a bit more even than the 315W power supply we found in the Series X.

Che cosa c'è sotto la schermatura numero due: un massiccio dissipatore e un alimentatore di aspetto stravagante.

Dato che il calore va naturalmente verso l'alto, ha senso che questo dissipatore sia progettato per andare verso l'altro calore attraverso tutti quei tubi di calore che avevamo già visto nell'immagine a raggi X. Il tutto mentre il calore che si irradia dalla pinna cromata viene spazzato via della ventola.

Rispetto al sistema di dissipazione della Xbox Series X, la PS5 ha senz'altro un'area più estesa per dissipare il caldo caldo calore che si sviluppa. La PS5 non ha una vapor chamber come la Series X, ma Sony afferma che questa combinazione di tubi di calore in rame e dissipatori è altrettanto efficace.

Appeso sotto il gigantesco dissipatore c'è l'alimentatore integrato da 350 Watt, a forma di stivale, della PS5; più che sufficiente per i 200 W di assorbimento rilevati a pieno carico, e ancora un po' di più rispetto all'alimentatore da 315 W che avevamo trovato nella Series X.
