  • There was absolutely nothing wrong with the XS Max display—apart from it being really, really expensive—so we're unsurprised to see this year's "XDR" display looks superficially very similar.

  • However, this "XDR" display does not have a $999 stand, so it's basically unusable.

  • One minor but helpful update is that the three flex cables all congregate in the same place—so there are fewer booby traps when slicing open the phone for repair.

  • We did expect the loss of the 3D Touch layer to factor in a little more—this display measures about a quarter of a millimeter thinner than its predecessor, and that's all. That plus the slight increase in the iPhone's overall thickness is apparently responsible for a good chunk of the increased battery capacity.

  • One last chip hides under a shield: Samsung S2D0S23 display power management IC

Il n'y avait absolument rien à redire au sujet de l'écran du XS Max (à part son prix salé). Nous ne sommes donc que peu surpris par la grande ressemblance de l'écran "XDR" de cette année.

Cependant, l'écran "XDR" ne dispose pas de service à 999 $, donc il est pratiquement inutile.

Amélioration mineure mais utile : les trois nappes sont proches l'une de l'autre. Cela réduit le risque d'en abîmer une quand on tranche les bords du téléphone pour l'ouvrir.

Nous pensions que la perte de la 3D Touch se ferait sentir un peu plus. L'écran a juste perdu un quart de millimètre d'épaisseur, c'est tout… Le léger embonpoint de l'iPhone est donc largement dû à l'augmentation des capacités de la batterie.

Une dernière puce se cache sous une plaque de protection : Samsung S2D0S23, la puce gérant l'alimentation de l'écran.
