  • Onward to the keyboard! Let's recap this butterfly's metamorphosis so far.

  • After making its debut in the 2015 Retina MacBook, the butterfly keyboard landed on the MacBook Pro line for the first time in 2016 (pictured at left).

  • Designed to be super thin while accommodating off-center key presses, the keyboard proved controversial because of its extremely short throw—but soon proved unreliable as well.

  • In summer of 2018, Apple launched a repair program, privately blaming dust for jamming the keys—and released updated models with a silicone membrane protecting the key switches (middle image). But problems have persisted.

  • Lastly, 2019's butterfly switch revision keeps the silicone membrane, but tweaks the materials in the springy metal dome and the plasticky material that covers it.

¡Y ahora al teclado! Veamos cómo fue la metamorfosis de esta mariposa hasta ahora.

Luego de hacer su debut en la MacBook Retina de 2015, el teclado mariposa aterrizó en la línea de MacBook Pro por primera vez en el 2016 (foto a la izquierda)

Diseñado para ser súper delgado y acomodar pulsaciones de teclas descentradas, este teclado es controversial debido a su golpe extremadamente corto y porque en poco tiempo resultó ser poco confiable.

En el verano del 2018, Apple lanzó un programa de reparación, culpando principalmente al polvo por atascar las teclas y además lanzó modelos actualizados con una membrana de silicona que protege los interruptores de tecla (imagen en el medio). Pero los problemas persistieron.

Por último, la revisión del interruptor de mariposa del 2019 mantiene la membrana de silicona, pero modifica los materiales en el domo de metal elástico y el material de plástico que lo cubre.
