Remove spring and brackets

Remove the return spring by using needle nose pliers, a screwdriver, or other device. I removed the spring by the end of the front bracket (away from the mower handle). Lift up and away from the bracket, and the spring should come out.
Beware! The spring is very strong and injury could result if proper care is not exercised.
Remove the two bolts using a 7/16 socket.
