Solution 4 - Initialize Disk

  • As we know, if you connect a new Toshiba external hard drive to your PC, your Windows may not recognize it because it has not been initialized. Open Disk Management. (Press Windows + R on your keyboard to launch the Run dialog box. Type "diskmgmt.msc" into the box and press OK.)

  • Right click on the name portion of the disk entry, where it says Disk [#]. Select Initialise Disk from the right-click context menu. And then, you will be given detailed operating prompts. Just do as told.

  • Note: during the initialization process, you'll be prompted to choose whether you want to use a Master Boot Record (MBR) or a GUID Partition Table (GPT) for the partition style of your Toshiba external hard drive. Here, in my opinion, if the capacity of your Toshiba HDD is over 2TB, you had better choose GPT, for MBR can support up to 2TB disk.

Solución #4 - Inicializar el disco

Como sabemos, si conectas un nuevo disco duro externo Toshiba a su PC, es posible que tu Windows no lo reconozca porque no ha sido inicializado. Abra Administración de discos. (Pulsa Windows + R en tu teclado para iniciar el cuadro de diálogo Ejecutar. Escribe "diskmgmt.msc" en el cuadro y pulsa Aceptar).

Haz clic con el botón derecho en la parte del nombre de la entrada del disco, donde dice Disco [#]. Selecciona Inicializar disco en el menú contextual del botón derecho. Y entonces, se le darán indicaciones de funcionamiento detalladas. Haz lo que se te indica.

Durante el proceso de inicialización, se le pedirá que elija si deseas utilizar un Master Boot Record (MBR) o una GUID Partition Table (GPT) para la partición de tu disco duro externo.

En mi opinión, si la capacidad de su disco Toshiba es superior a 2 TB, es mejor que elijas GPT, ya que MBR puede soportar hasta 2 TB de disco.
