Being careful not to put too much strain on the left speaker cable, flip the CPU fan over to expose its bottom edge.

Use the flat end of a spudger to press down one side of the speaker cable retainer as you use your other hands to slide the speaker cables out of the retainer.

Remove the CPU fan from the iMac.
