Unscrew the hinge side of the top shell

On each side of the open hinge there are two large Phillips screws on either side.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew them and lift them out with tweezers.

Be careful and avoid dropping the screws on the scanning glass so you don't scratch it.
