[title] Remove keyboard
[* black] With the laptop's screen open and the disc drive out, hold up the laptop, push on the underside of the metal plate below the keyboard.
[* black] Flip the laptop right side-up and pull the keyboard, taking care not to rip the ribbon cables out of their sockets.
+ | [* black] Most of the ribbon cable connectors contain a simple lock mechanism. This is released by gently lifting the surround that goes around three sides of the cable, using a small screwdriver or knife blade. |
+ | [* black] The lock only needs to be lifted 0.5-1mm and is ++very++ fragile, so take care. This makes it much easier to reinsert the cable when it comes to reassembly. The lock is re-engaged by pressing the surround back into place. |
[* black] Disengage the ribbon cables from their sockets by pulling up on each socket tab, then pulling the cable gently upwards. |
