[* icon_note] This step requires one to unlock plastic clips along the frame. Great care is required in doing so, as broken clips are not fixable and will affect the structural integrity of the laptop.
[* black] Partially separate the top cover of the laptop’s frame using the plastic spudger. The top cover is the metallic finished portion surrounding the keyboard.
[* red] Starting at one corner, gently wedge the flathead end of the spudger into the space between the frame and the top cover.
[* orange] Slide the spudger along the edge, applying a slight twist to the tool whenever you incur resistance. Applying this leveraging motion disengages the plastic clips. You can tell by the “clicking” sound produced that a clip has unlocked.
[* yellow] Move along the entire perimeter of the laptop until the top cover is separated from the frame of the device, taking care to not separate the wired connections attached to it.
