[* black] Carefully de-route the home button cable through its slot in the outer case and remove it from the iPhone.
-[* black] When installing a home button ribbon into the socket make sure that its far right shoulder actually rests inside the small groove not on top of it. It will also physically fit such that the shoulder comes to lie on top of the groove. This causes the ribbon cable to insert obliquely into the socket and can lead to a dysfunctional home button.
