+[* black] While the filter housing is apart, you should inspect the O-ring to determine if it has any cracks or tears. If so, replace it with a new O-ring. If it still appears to be in decent condition, then continue to use it and apply a little lube. NEVER use Vaseline or any other petroleum-based lubricant on pool parts. Look for silicone-based lubes.
