[* black] To reach the oil filter, guide your hand around the back side of the drive axle and up towards the top of the engine.
[* icon_caution] Be careful if the engine has been running recently, the engine and exhaust manifold may be very hot.
[* black] Grasp the oil filter with your hand and twist it counter-clockwise until it comes off the threads.
[* icon_note] If the filter is too tight to loosen by hand, use an oil filter wrench. A wrench that fits over the top of the oil filter is necessary as there is very little space to the sides of the oil filter.
[* black] Lower the oil filter down out of the engine bay with the threads facing up. Then place it in the oil drain pan with the threads facing down.
[* black] Wipe up as much spilled oil as possible.
