+[* black] Begin the teardown process by removing the 5 screws attaching the plastic case to the base of the device.
+[* black] These are Phillips screws. Two can be viewed from the bottom and three are hidden in the 'feet' of the sharpener.
+[* black] Access the screws by removing the rubber feet, gently lift up on the edge of the rubber, to expose a thin hole. A thin screwdriver is needed to reach the screw.
