[title] Remove a lever | |
[* red] On the left side, we will be removing this lever.
[* green] It is held on its shaft with a retaining clip and a washer. The clip is actually just what appears to be one loop of a thick spring. Find the gap in the wire, then use the dental pick and a very small screwdriver to pry apart the gap enough so that you can remove it with the needlenose pliers.
[* icon_caution] Don't worry about bending or breaking this thing. I think in the rebuild we'll replace these with retaining rings.
[* icon_note] Retaining rings hadn't been invented by the time these calculators were built. The Seeger retaining ring was invented in Germany around 1927 by Hugo Heiermann.
+ | [* black] Remove the washer (***5/16"*** outer diameter). |
[* black] Also unhook the end of the spring from its post.
[* black] Place retaining clip, washer, and lever into bag 7. |
