[title] Replacement/soldering of the battery
[* black] Here is a placement of the original battery. It is a Lipo 3.7V 1650mAh battery. Its dimensions are about 5 x 46 x 60mm. You can see such a battery (same mAh, same voltage) for example here: http://www.cpkb.org/wiki/Samsung_EB-F1A2GBU_battery This one is 5.1 mm x 46.1 mm x 59.1 mm, so lightly more thick, but I think it fits well in the cybook.

+ | [* black] Another battery that could fit is the HTC 3.7v 1650mAh Li-POL replacement Battery (dim. 5x50x60): http://www.amazon.com/35H00185-01M-1650mAh-Li-POL-Replacement-Battery/dp/B00MC1P154. Or this one: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/ultra-thin-flat-lipo-3-7v_1783274635.html?spm=a2700.7724857.29.147.ERomfl (5x50x60mm). |
[* black] In fact, I installed in my cybook a somewhat similar battery, the battery for the Samsung galaxy S4. It has same dimensions and about the same capacity but not for all models sold on the net, so I cannot recommand it - as remarked a reviewer of this guide. Nevertheless, it is working in my cybook for two years.
[* black] The original battery is solded on a protection circuit on a very small external PCB from which 2 wires (red and black) go to the motherboard.
[* black] On this small PCB, the red wire (+) is sold near the (+) of the battery, and the black wire (-) is near the (-) of the battery.
[* black] Then, you must determine the (+) and the (-) of the new battery to wire correctly the new battery on the small PCB. You possibly need additional wires to sold the (+) and (-) of the new battery to the small PCB (as the old battery was). The second picture shows the new battery, soldered with the small PCB, whose output is plugged (white plug).
[* black] Once the battery is soldered, before remounting, charge the battery as usual with USB cable on the cybook, and verify that the cybook go properly when the battery is charged (and cybook unplugged from the charging USB cable).
[* black] Then proceed in the reverse order to remount the cybook. |
