[title] Secure the phone to your work surface
[* icon_note] Since the battery pull tabs require two hands, you'll need to firmly secure the phone to your work surface.
[* icon_caution] Before securing your phone, make sure nothing is under it. Only secure the phone by the raised lip of the frame, and be very careful not to press down on any internal components.
[* black] Move the pull tabs out from under your phone so they're accessible.
[* black] Use [product|IF145-517|F‑Clamps|new_window=true] or C‑Clamps to secure the phone to your work surface. At minimum, you'll need two clamps—one for the top edge and one for the bottom edge.
- [* icon_caution] If your clamp pads are made of metal or hard plastic, put a cloth over the area you're clamping to prevent damaging your phone.
-[* black] If you don't have any clamps, recruit a fellow fixer to help secure the phone to your work surface.
+ [* icon_caution] Use clamps with plastic or rubber pads, or be extra careful not to scuff your device.
+[* black] If you don't have any clamps, have a friend hold the phone firmly in place.
[* icon_note] Consider using clean cloths to help secure the phone—the lip of the frame has a somewhat sharp edge and the phone may be hot.
