-[* black] To our surprise the procedure of heating, lifting and slicing is rather unusual for us with this phone. Whilst the rear glass didn't move a bit by lifting it with a suction handle and sliding an opening pick underneath, we're able to insert an [product|IF145-219-4|iMac Opening Wheel|new_window=true] into the gap between rear glass and midframe without using a suction handle at all.
- [* black] Since there was no booby trap cable in last years Mate and we already know that the fingerprint dwells beneath the display, we don't expect any obstacles ... and we were ***wrong***!
- [* black] A small flex cable next to the power button sadly ''made'' the cut and grants us a grotty start in this teardown. Besides that we find unwelcomed thick adhesive strips and a kind of messy looking inside (at least when compared to the [https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/531xHNPtHXwRffvM.full|clean new iPhone] lineup).
+[* black] Our usual procedure of heating, lifting and slicing doesn't go exactly to plan today: the adhesive refuses to budge with pressure from our suction cup, but the gap between the rear glass and the midframe is ''just'' wide enough for our [product|IF145-219-4|iMac Opening Wheel|new_window=true] to get in and start to do some separating.
+[* black] There was no booby trap cable in the Mate 30 Pro, and since the 40 Pro also sports an under-display fingerprint reader we don't expect any obstacles as we lift away the rear glass. Reader, we were wrong.
+ [* icon_note] A small flex cable next to the power button sadly made the, uh... ''cut.''
+[* black] Despite that sad bit of news, our entry is successful! Inside the Mate 40 Pro we can see the thick adhesive strips that gave us a hard time, and the four unblinking eyes in the space circle. Most of our view at this point is blocked by shields and the wireless charging coil.
+ [* black] Not to pay favorites, but we must admit this first look is less tidy than the [https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/531xHNPtHXwRffvM.full|clean new iPhone] lineup.
