-[* black] Having the plastic opening tool in hand, you can now start to remove the screen portion of the kindle from the rest.
-[* icon_caution] You will be prying the screen half of the kindle from the back half by using the plastic opening tool ***on the back*** of your kindle (not on the same side as the screen) as shown in the step 1 images.
-[* red] A good place to start prying is near, but not in, the headphone jack. Insert a medium to large plastic opening tool into the crevice, located on the back, between the two portions of the kindle.
-[* icon_note] Pry each side equally so that the kindle does not bend in the process.
-[* blue] Push the top of plastic opening tool away from you so that the hook end of the tool can separate the two halves of the kindle. Repeat this several times until you are able to see a noticeable gap between the halves.
-[* black] As the gap between the halves of the kindle continue to grow, repeat the above step further along the sides of the kindle until you are able to completely separate the screen half from the other.
