-[* black] Like a beautiful butterfly, our Fold's life was tragically short.
- [* black] Also like a butterfly, this thing is alarmingly fragile. Hopefully it can metamorphose into something a bit more robust to avoid the windshield of fate.
- [* black] Maybe with their [https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-to-postpone-the-launch-of-the-galaxy-fold|extra time|new_window=true], Samsung can add a bit more reinforcement and some ingress protection, so these glorious wings may flap another day!
- [* black] While the phone was easier to get into than some, the overwhelming fragility is a bad sign for repair.
-[* icon_reminder] In case you missed it, we did a [https://ifixit.org/blog/16025/galaxy-fold-failure-causes/|post-mortem] on the review unit failures with our best guesses (at the time)—and the teardown pretty much bore that out.
+[* black] Despite its improvements, this beautiful butterfly's life was still tragically short.
+ [* black] For the most part, it looks like Samsung quietly made all the changes we suggested in our original Fold teardown! You're welcome, Samsung.
+ [* black] We found covers over the gaps on either side of the display crease and tape around the inside of the hinge, both working to keep debris away from the backside of the display.
+ [* black] For further reinforcement, there's an extra layer of metal bonded to the back of the display.
+ [* black] And last, but not least, the screen protector is slightly larger, hiding its tempting edges beneath the plastic bezel.
+[* black] That said, this thing is still pretty fragile. We'll have to see how it holds up in the real world, but for now we can't help but wonder: why weren't these revisions a part of the first Fold? It took reviewers (and us) less than a week to figure out the phone's weak points. Why ship something they must have known to be so easily breakable?
