-[* black] ok, to start, we need to remove the battery to prevent the risk of shocking ourselves and shorting something on the motherboard that we really dont want to short.
-[* icon_note] a good guide to help with this repair and others like it for the lenovo n500 can be found at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/default.page? under the heading hardware maintenance.
-[* red] now find the large black panel on your computer that has the ***round*** vent on it. it will have two phillips head screws, losen these until they start makeing a clicking noise.
-[* icon_caution] dont keep turning after they start clicking, you may damage the screw or the little nut they screw into. also dont remove the screws.
-[* yellow] now use a flathead screwdriver or a fingernail to lift the panel from the tab inbetween the screws. you will encouter resistance to removeing the panel, this is ok, it feels like it is comeing from the screws but it is just some plastic snap tabs thaet are on the cover, gently pry around the front and first corner on either side of the front until the panel pops up, then just pry further until the panel comes off, but be gentle.
